Video Tour linked within listing! Avante is a young 36 year old, three-owner documented New England vessel. So seaworthy, she’s been a long time keeper for each owner. This Bertram 46.6 is an honest and handsome design, built to go safely anywhere. Her diligent owners have maintained and upgraded every system, while keeping her sturdy appearance classic. 1985 was the last production year to include opening portholes and breathing deck hatches. Her salon has glass all around with opening screened panes to bring the outside view and air in. In addition to her timeless utility, she is properly rigged to fish offshore/inshore, or travel great distances for days in comfort with a recent CumminsOnan generator and 3000 watt inverter. She’ll confront any sea state and then look proud in any harbor or marina at the end of the day. The original Detroit 8-92T’s purr and are smokeless when cruising at 20 knots, burning 45 GPH from the 750 gallon fiberglass tanks. Annual professional upkeep has kept her mechanically flawless. The deep V hull design, engine weight, and tanks placement position her to slice through the waves with confidence. The upper helm has three-sided rigid, and clear, fold up panels for great visibility and protection. The four networked Raymarine touchscreens include night vision, 72 mile HD color radar, and autopilot for straight line performance.

Performance

The engines run and look like new. Check out the photos of the engines! The Detroit diesel 8-92 twin turbos generate 600 HP each. They are heavy and strong. Their weight combined with Hunt designed deep-vee hull keeps the ride sensation of slicing through the sea. The ride and performance is a big part of the Bertram 46.6's excellent reputation and why you still see so many still in service today. They loaf at 20 knot cruise while wide open throttle makes 26 knots.

Fuel capacity is 750 gallons in two tanks, one in front of engines, one behind, so boat attitude remains consistent as fuel is burned. Owners get between 35 - 45 gallons per hour depending on load and speed conditions. So 750/40 = 18.75 hours, so round down to 18 hours of run time at 1950 RPMs at 20 knots. Being conservative again, round down to 19 knots x 18 hours = 342 nautical miles, or 273 miles with 20% still in reserve. This boat has made many trips to the canyons, trolling, and return to Mystic with 20% fuel to spare.

Light and ventilation.

1985 was the last year Bertram offered this model with opening portholes, breather hatches and forward salon glass. This extra ventilation and light in the living areas are often seen as an advantage for the 1985 and earlier examples of this model.
