John began his sailing journey in the U.S. Navy while stationed in Yokosuka, Japan, transitioning to windsurfing after completing his active duty service. In 1987, he had the chance to join a short-handed crew aboard a J35 for a windy Edlu Race, sparking his passion for sailboat racing on Long Island Sound, where he has been an active participant ever since.
In 1995, John earned his U.S. Sailing Basic Keelboat Instructor Certification and spent several years teaching at Sound Sailing Center. During this time, he also worked as the National Sales Representative and System Designer for Dutchman Sail Handling Systems. In 1998, he transitioned to a career with New York Life Insurance Company.
After retiring from New York Life, John joined Prestige Yacht Sales, combining his professional expertise with his lifelong passion for sailing. His focus is on helping sailors embrace modern advancements that make sailing simpler, faster, and safer.
